WOYWW 629

Here as promised Julia reporting for duty, but haven't got much to show.

My table this week is littered with photographs that I am sorting out. This is something I have been meaning to do for over 20 years since I moved to spain, The albums were purchased in the uk and have remained in their plastic covering ever since but not any more. I have promised all the photos to my daughter so she can have a laugh at how things used to be.

I am still making the teddys and have completed a drawstring bag for each one.

I will keep making them in the hope I will be able to find someone returning to the UK by car and will transport them for me. Also it is a great way of using oddments of wool and they are so easy to knit.

Below are some photos of work done by members of our Wednesday knitting/sewing group.

We are truly a gifted bunch of ladies and now that people are slowly returning to their holiday homes we are welcoming back some members we have not seen for over 18 months. Today 14 of us will sit down for our summer lunch, slowly things are returning to normal. Oh and after this weekend our face masks will be no more, only in exceptional circumstances ie supermarkets, hospitals, etc.

So along with the weather picking up life is good. Hope it is for all of you.

WOYWW 12th anniversary

Sorry no desk from me still at my daughter's enjoying the sun and pool.

Just wanted to wish you all a great 12th anniversary and to say to Julia thank you for allowing me to be part of this great family.

When I return home will send ATC's to people I have addresses for even though I can't really join in today.

WOYWW 623

Good morning, sorry no desk this morning as at the weekend I made full use of our borders opening and went to say with my daughter who moved to Spain in February this is only the first time time I have her new home since viewing it with her.

I have plenty to do and brought both the crocheting projects with me along with some of the books featured in my last blog.

Breakfast calls sitting out in the sun.

Hope this comes through OK as it is from my mobile.

WOYWW 622 5th May 2021

Buenas tardes,

A little late today but didn't arise until 8.30am and have to be out of the house for my knitting group by 9.30am. So before I prepare my lunch here is what I have been up to over the past week. Not a great deal.

My teddy family is increasing and will be soon taking over if I don't find an outlet for them.

Looking into doing some crocheting but can't make up my mind if to do the browny granny throw ready for next winter, or the single bed cover also for next winter. Both patterns are from Attic 24.

I have also sorted some summer reading as the weather is slowly becoming summery. The wine makes a good book end, wonder how long it will be there, was a present from a friend.

That is me for today not much going on but hey something is better than nothing.

Saying that my garden looks good!

Now to link up with Julia at https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and see what the rest of you have been up to over the past week.

WOYWW 621 28th April 2021

Good morning ladies another beautiful day here in spain. Firstly the moon Monday evening and second sunrise this morning.

Now the reason why we are here, my mojo hasn't really returned since the  Christmas holidays, so I have been crafting items that don't need a great deal of thought like my little 'Teddies for Tragedies'. The only thing now is I have to find a way to get them back to the UK. Postage is out of the question from Spain as it will require tax payable and as no one is coming to visit so I can't ask people to take them back to post. Hopefully by next month we may see some holiday makers returning.

Even the jigsaw hasn't progressed much but I am not giving up on it and will finish it think this must be the most difficult one I have ever attempted.

I am off to my sewing/knitting group in about an hour, we are allowed 4 to a table inside and 6 outside but it is a little cold to be working outdoors. The bar owner is very co-operative and places two tables of 4 with another one of 2 in the middle of them so we don't have to shout (we make enough noise anyway).

Have a good week and I will see if I can find my mojo for this coming week.

Now to link with Julia https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and read what you have all been up to.

WOYWW 619 14th April 2021

Guess what, I'm actually due to get my covid jab on Friday morning, have to go to a nearby town for it though. Apparently it is all done by drive-through. Wind your window down, jab in the arm, wait 15 minutes and away you go. My next one will be 7th May.

Again not much crafting done over the last two weeks, my table contains a jigsaw not the easiest one I've attempted.

Some other items I have been making to use up some of my wool stash are these 'Teddies for Tragedies'.

Noticed my amaryllis hasn't done well this year think it will need dividing and repotting after flowering.

2021

2020This was last year quite a difference!

Perhaps it's felt the effects of lockdown.

At least my jasmine is beginning to flower, I have four of these plants, they have been in bud for about a week but think the weather has been to cold for them to flower before.

So that has been my week coffee and lunches out with friends, some knitting, some gardening.

We are still confined to our regions so have yet to go and see how my daughter and her husband have settled in. One upset they have had, they brought their 18 year old cat with them from the UK and 10 days ago it went missing and no sign of it.

Now to link up with Julia and the rest of the WOYWW crowd at https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/

Hope all of you in the UK enjoy your freedom, but please stay safe.

WOYWW 617 31st March 2021

Hello all, I'm back, from where you may well ask, the answer nowhere actually. Can't believe my last post was 610.

What have I been doing over these weeks, not much crafting. My daughter and her husband are now settled here in Spain, what a time to move countries. Their furniture has arrived after much asking for this paperwork and that paperwork then being told they would have to pay 21% tax on it. No it didn't happen. I haven't been to see them yet as we are on communidad (county) lockdown, they have been to see me and we made the trip into Almeria city for their official residencias.

I finished the jumper I was knitting, Don't know what happened to the colour but is it a minty pastel green colour. It has been washed and worn a number of times.

Next a friend lent me a jigsaw and I really enjoyed doing it. The pieces were quite thick and I have never used a picture so much to do a jigsaw. It was a scene from Central Park. The bottom picture is the picture of the jigsaw and I am sure I took a photo of the finished jigsaw but can't find it! I did finish it honestly.

Next on my agenda was some Easter chicks. When knitted in previous years the Cadbury's egg fitted in the body, not any more. I had to modify and put the egg in the head! Everything is shrinking wish I was.

So that is my last 7 weeks in a few sentences, hopefully will be back to normal from now on.

I have noticed our roads are very quiet well the three or so we have. Let's hope it stays that way until after the weekend, as I don't fancy going into lockdown yet again.

A Happy Easter to you all.

Now to link up with Julia@stamping ground that's if my membership hasn't been cancelled.

WOYWW 610 10th Feb 2021

Sorry for being absent last week but as some of you know my cat had an op to remove a lump from behind her ear. Thankfully all is well and she has the stitches removed on Friday. It is not easy travelling as the vet is in the next town and we are in lockdown in our municipalities. I now have a letter to say I can travel but only to the vets. This lockdown has now been extended until 25th Feb.

So the reason you are here to see my desk. Well I still haven't got one as such my get up and go seems to have gone - where I do not know. I have all the time in the world stuck at home but this is all I can come up with this week.

Looking through some bags I came across this UFO cushion cover so decided to finish it will see how far I get. The red bag in the left hand corner holds some tapestry wools along with remember 'the cross in my pocket'.

I am up to the decrease of my first sleeve of the jumper I am knitting. Could have done with it these last few days, we have had a very cold wind but some sun. Needed sunglasses see next to Jan (LLJ) little bag that keeps all my scissors, pins, measures etc in. Very very useful.

So that is me for this week but must show you this, our local wild life, after dark the wild boar have been coming down to the playa looking for food. Every since lockdown began last year they have been visiting the beach road making a mess of the grass verges.

WOYWW 608 27th January 2021

In case you're wondering what WOYWW stands for. it's a weekly get together of fellow crafters to see 'What's on your workdesk Wednesday'. The group is run by Julia https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and has been going over 10 years.

I am giving myself a pat on the back as last week I managed to visit everyones page and comment on those that would allow.

So down to business and to show what is on my work desk today, must admit nothing exciting. I am still knitting the jumper but the rate I am going summer will have come and gone and it will be ready for next winter. I have done the back and quarter of the front. The greeny tub on the top is for holding my wool it fits a 100grm ball perfectly and by using the wool from the centre of the ball saves one pussy cat getting her claws on it!

Our weather has certainly improved and I am managing to sit outside in the sun getting my daily vitamin D and my vitamin C from the oranges I juiced. It is great having orange and grapefruit trees but all the fruit comes at the same time so much gets wasted. I usually give bags away but with being on lockdown I am not seeing anyone.

These were a few windfalls I picked up and the yield was two and a half litres.

That's me for this week now to link with approximately 40 other crafters across the world via https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ Hope you have a good week whatever situation you are in.

WOYWW 607 20th January 2021

Well what can I say, yes we are in lockdown again as our little seaside village numbers have risen after the Christmas, New Year and 3 Kings holidays. Now all our bars, restaurants are closed likewise non essential shops but we are still free to roam as long as you don't go out of the town. Two of my friends have tested positive and today there is a mass screening being done at the local football ground. You can only go if you have been called by text and I have received no text. I shall just stay in and amuse myself with my hobbies.

So the desk is beginning to come back to life. A birthday card for my friend who will be 90 on Sunday (if you knew her you would not put her a day above 70), grand celebration plans made but now all postponed.

My jumper is coming on well finished the back and half the front done, but now only knitting by the fire in the evenings.

Our weather has improved a little and I am managing an hour of vitamin D in the mornings. In the sun, sheltered from the wind temperatures can reach 24C. Along with the vitamin C from my oranges I hope this is keeping me healthy!

No sewing/knitting group today so for once I will have a lazy Wednesday hoping to visit you all before the day is finished.

Please all stay safe.

WOYWW 606 13th January 2021

Good morning brrh. it has gone even colder here, the coldest winter Spain has experienced for over 20 years and I believe Madrid is snowbound. It is not much better in Mojacar, the temperature in my living room when I ventured in there was 14C this morning. No central heating here like in the UK.

So what's on my table today one guess. A jumper desperately needed, hope I can finish it before the cold weather disappears.

Yes Jan, that is your little bag I have found it so useful to keep my measures, pins, scissors etc in. It is waiting to be put in the craft bag along with the knitting to go to Knitting group this morning.

That is me for today short and sweet. Now to link with Julia at stamping-ground.blogspot.com our hostess.

Wish you all a safe and good crafting week.

WOYWW 605 6th January 2021

Oh my goodness 2021 where did the years go since the millennium celebrations of 2000, who would think then of the situtation the world would be in 20 years laters.

And on my Wednesday desk today still no crafting but the finished jigsaw, just the one piece missing.

I have also been carrying on knitting my squares and oh boy do I need that blanket. Don't think I have known such a cold winter, the sun shines but we have a really cold wind that comes from the north. Don't ever discard warm winter clothes if you come to live in Spain I even had my gloves on yesterday as well as my ancient M & S winter coat.

At least we are still allowed out and bars and restaurants are open during the day and evening but not allowed to sell alcohol in the evening. Yesterday we registered 12 new cases in our little town but I wasn't surprised as when I took a trip to the dustbins New years day one bar area had so many cars parked I couldn't get near the bins and had to drive further on and lo and behold that chain have now closed because of positive readings.

We have new restrictions or non restrictions due on the 10th so watch this space.

It is our three kings today but sadly non of the big parades etc. but some kings were seen in cars.

I am off to my knitting/sewing class this morning we say we never close. Haha

WOYWW 604 30th December 2020

Good morning all from a cold and very windy Spain but obviously not as cold and snowy as the UK.

So we are gathered on our last WOYWW of 2020. Thank you for all your friendship over this difficult past year where I think isolation, boredom and loneliness have been problems for many.

So what's on my desk today well not much as crafting still isn't on the agenda until after 3 Kings. So my little desk/table has the jigsaw still not finished all the animals are done now for the jungle pieces. Watch this space as I reckon it will be finished next week.

And for my little bit of crafting 50 of my 108 needed squares for the blanket for the bed. So easy to do when watching television. Although I admit I thought television wasn't exciting over Christmas.
I am off to my knitting/sewing group this morning the first time I have been out since Christmas Eve.

On the rib front I noticed yesterday that the pain has gone so hopefully all healed now. It was 6 weeks ago Barney knocked me off my feet.

Now to meet up with Julia at https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and I wish you all A Happy New Year with the promise of better things to come.

xx

WOYWW 603 23rd Decembre 2020

Good morning from a hazy sunrise in Mojacar this morning.

Only one more day left here in Spain as the Spanish celebrate like the rest of Europe on Christmas eve, hope you are all prepared for your celebrations wherever you are.

My table this week has the jigsaw on that I was saving for Christmas but was bored the other afternoon so made a start.

Along with keep knitting my pinky coloured squares that is the extent of my crafting activities this week.

This morning after my knitting group I will be returning home to the start of my Christmas preparations. That means staying at home with Barney and QC until at least Monday. I decided I didn't want to go to a restaurant Christmas day for fear social distancing would not be observed when people have had a bit to drink. So my choice to go it alone.

Our covid numbers are dropping but who's to say that after Christmas, New Year and 3 Kings they could increase. I cannot understand the number of British who have been flying to Spain for Christmas and I am now glad Spain has closed its borders to the UK. Sorry but that's how I feel.

So only one thing left for me to do and that is to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a better 2021 wherever you are and celebrating.

Ani, Barney and QC

Woyww 602 16th December 2020

Well only just over a week to the big day hope you are all prepared. I have never been so prepared and why because I am spending the day on my own. No meat to buy and cook, no veg to prepare and all the usual work that goes with Christmas. I have not even put a decoration up, how sad am I. We also like most countries have not been given the final arrangements for the Christmas period so decided it was better to stay at home.

No photos this week as I have put my big work table away after completing the sorting of all my wool. Really pleased as now in bags and labelled. My smaller table I still have up but no craft work on it and is a dumping ground but will be cleared shortly in preparation for a jigsaw a friend gave me.

I am off to my sewing/knitting group this morning then after the meeting we have our Christmas lunch. My third and final one!

Hope you all get your Christmas wishes and manage to see your families over the Christmas period.

WOYWW 601

It was lovely to meet you all on Saturday and put names and faces to blogs. Thank you Julia https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/for arranging it all. Here's to the next 600.

So for the view of my desk this week, I said I was having a wool clear out here is the table with just some of the wool. Only thrown very small balls away and I have a bin liner full to take to knitting group this morning. A lady there knits coats and blankets for the dogs.

Then to the other table where I have put half finished garments etc. These will get finished sometime.

These are the squares I am knitting when I watch TV the browny crocheted ones are for a throw for my chair, and the pinky ones for a cover for my bed.

Another busy day today after sewing I am going for a  Christmas lunch with the Wednesday afternoon group, had one on Saturday also, then next Wednesday I have the sewing group Christmas lunch. Good job I am on my own for Christmas as I don't think I will be able to face any more turkey by then.

We are still confined to our town until new announcements on 12th December. I expect this won't change until after Christmas, New Year or even 3 Kings.

Stay safe everyone. Ani

WOYWW 600

WOYWW celebrates is 600 edition.

Thank you Julia for this special blog page, since finding you it has felt like belonging to a worldwide family of crafters. You have been there for me during the happy and unhappy events in my life.

Unfortunately there is nothing on my workdesk today as I have tidied the desk/table up in readiness to start downsizing my wool stash.

When the wool stock is done, then I make a start on material. Then probably my card stash especially all the cut offs. I am unable to throw away any bits I cut off when making cards and my boxes are growing bigger and bigger.

I suppose the same can be said for all my craft stuff, I am possibly what some people may called 'A Hoarder'. I just say I haven't got the opportunity to nip into my local craft store because I haven't got one!

So I say watch these tables in the coming weeks.

I wish Julia stamping-ground.blogspot.com a very happy day and thank you for all you and your assistants do.

Hopefully I will connect on Zoom if I can figure out how to use it but don't hold your breath as during the week I managed to send Google Crome into the unknown depths of my desktop.
