WOYWW 603 23rd Decembre 2020

Good morning from a hazy sunrise in Mojacar this morning.

Only one more day left here in Spain as the Spanish celebrate like the rest of Europe on Christmas eve, hope you are all prepared for your celebrations wherever you are.

My table this week has the jigsaw on that I was saving for Christmas but was bored the other afternoon so made a start.

Along with keep knitting my pinky coloured squares that is the extent of my crafting activities this week.

This morning after my knitting group I will be returning home to the start of my Christmas preparations. That means staying at home with Barney and QC until at least Monday. I decided I didn't want to go to a restaurant Christmas day for fear social distancing would not be observed when people have had a bit to drink. So my choice to go it alone.

Our covid numbers are dropping but who's to say that after Christmas, New Year and 3 Kings they could increase. I cannot understand the number of British who have been flying to Spain for Christmas and I am now glad Spain has closed its borders to the UK. Sorry but that's how I feel.

So only one thing left for me to do and that is to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a better 2021 wherever you are and celebrating.

Ani, Barney and QC

  1. Morning Ani. No, I agree with you - close the border. Our border with England is "closed", Scotland have closed theirs... what a mess. Enjoy your knitting group then have a special time at home. Enjoy that jigsaw!
Take care. God bless. Have a precious and happy Christmas.

  2. Happy WOYWW. Look forward to seeing the finished jigsaw. Thank you for sharing the beautiful Mojacar sun. We haven't seen the sun for a while now, but hopefully it will appear in the sky tomorrow and Friday. I hate the grey Welsh weather. I also agree with closing borders. We have to be strict to hopefully stop this virus. We are on full lockdown in Wales, so only essential travel for food/medicines. We went out last night to collect a takeaway curry, and it was nice to get out in the car for a drive through the countryside (although it was wet and dark). Feliz Navidad. Ali x #5

  4. I don't understand people flying away for Christmas either Ani. We are having a quiet Christmas with the boys at their house but only on Christmas day itself. Merry Christmas and here's to a better 2021 for all. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #11

  5. Personally I don’t think anyone from any country should be travelling this Christmas - the new variant is rife in all countries, it’s just the UK owned up! I hope you have a lovely Christmas out of the madness and enjoy your jigsaw!
    Merry Christmas,

  6. I'm with Jan. Everyone should be staying put, everywhere there is spread of the virus. I saw stories about people in London flocking to the train station in advance of the lockdown - just what we needed. People scattering and spreading when things are so bad. I'm staying put and we are trying to stay safe. You enjoy your puzzle, have a quiet and safe Christmas, and have hope for 2021 to be better!

Merry Christmas to all of WOYWW!

  7. Totally agree with Jan, all the countries are acting as if they haven’t got it. I feel so sorry for the lorry drivers that are stuck. My husband tells me they have started to move, so I hope they make it home for Christmas. My sister lives in Sabareigo, I hope she has been able to get her shopping. Normally they go to Malaga, but they haven’t been allowed . There are no supermarkets where they live. Her husband normally eats a lot of Quorn. Have a great Christmas and a Covid free New Year. 10. Hi Ani, I agree it is crazy people flocking anywhere for the Christmas break. It's as if someone has said "how best can we spread this virus" ... all countries have it, and all will get the various new strains - the only way to stop that is complete lockdown of all travel between all countries and that just isn't going to happen. Too much commercial risk at stake - more important to some than human lives. Enjoy your Christmas break - people do tend to forget social distancing once the alcohol is flowing, so you are wise to stay at home. Take care, hugs Heather xx #30

  11. Like you I simply don't understand anyone flying anywhere while a global pandemic is going on and I don't blame you deciding to go it alone at home. I hope you have a lovely Christmas, enjoy the puzzling and knitting and stay safe and well,

  12. I agree with you about the borders being shut, makes total sense, and if we had done it in spring maybe things wouldn't have been quite as bad as they were.... enjoy your Christmas, I am used to being alone and whilst as much as the 10 days I have got will be a it much, I will cope. I will cook myself a lovely roast beef dinner with all the trimmings.. Happy Woyww Helen #1

  13. Sorry I'm late it's been crazy here today, leaking washer and then fetching the Christmas order even the dogs didn't get their walk today but I'm here now. I'm with you, I don't understand what people are thinking about and I don't understand where they are staying when they get to Spain. I thought all the hotels were closed as they are in France. Sadly some people still don't seem to think that it's got anything to do with them. Anyway hope you can have the best Christmas possible. Stay safe. Hugs, Angela x10x

  14. You know what, I can't believe anyone is flying anywhere other than business. And the latter can be done over the internet mostly if you ask me!
I'm awaiting my Christmas Jigsaw but might just have two this year, who knows.
Have a Happy Christmas, Love BJ#17
