WOYWW 608 27th January 2021

In case you're wondering what WOYWW stands for. it's a weekly get together of fellow crafters to see 'What's on your workdesk Wednesday'. The group is run by Julia https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and has been going over 10 years.

I am giving myself a pat on the back as last week I managed to visit everyones page and comment on those that would allow.

So down to business and to show what is on my work desk today, must admit nothing exciting. I am still knitting the jumper but the rate I am going summer will have come and gone and it will be ready for next winter. I have done the back and quarter of the front. The greeny tub on the top is for holding my wool it fits a 100grm ball perfectly and by using the wool from the centre of the ball saves one pussy cat getting her claws on it!

Our weather has certainly improved and I am managing to sit outside in the sun getting my daily vitamin D and my vitamin C from the oranges I juiced. It is great having orange and grapefruit trees but all the fruit comes at the same time so much gets wasted. I usually give bags away but with being on lockdown I am not seeing anyone.

These were a few windfalls I picked up and the yield was two and a half litres.

That's me for this week now to link with approximately 40 other crafters across the world via https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ Hope you have a good week whatever situation you are in.

  1. that's some impressive fruit and juice! sadly I am not fond of orange juice, but I bet home-pressed and made is much nicer! good luck with your knitting. Take care and stay safe. Helen #1

  2. Wow that's a lot of juice! When we were in Seville a couple of years ago we saw lots of fruit on the ground - staggering for us who rarely see an orange on a tree! Good idea for keeping the yarn organised and away from little mitts! Have a good week, stay well, stay safe, love n hugs Cindyxx #8

  3. So glad you are having a lovely time sitting in the sunshine and eating that gorgeous fruit, or should I say drinking it? It must be nice to just pop out and grab something like that - our fruit bowl is empty at the moment until we get our next delivery tomorrow. Tangerines don't keep long so I am going to have to eat apples in the future.
Keep at the knitting and bit by bit it will get there.
    Hugs, Neet 9 xx

  4. I actually have knitting on my blog today - nothing like shaking up the WOYWW crowd with something unexpected LOL! I'm with you on the "being able to comment" thing, although it can be frustrating when you see something you love and can't say so - even when it is my own stupid pigheadedness not to give Google any more info about me that makes it so. Lucky you to have oranges and grapefruits! What about making marmalade or orange curd? might use up some of them....

  6. Like the wool pot. A friend of mine used to use an old drinks bottle where she'd cut it in half put the wool in and fed the end through the top and then taped the bottle back together! BJ#11

  7. Clever idea for the wool to stop it being attacked by the cat! I admire you for knitting an adult sized garment, I’ve done plenty in my time but don’t have the patience anymore! Am very envious of your lovely oranges and wish I was closer cos I’d have some of your spares, lol!

  8. Fresh Orange juice! just lovely, I drink it but more for the digestion benefits! Keep going with the knitting, I have hit a wall at the moment so forcing myself to do at least two rows. Most days I manage a few more . . .
    Have a good week

  9. It feels awful for so much to go to waste doesn't it?! Oranges and grapefruits are not as versatile as apples and pears are they?! I keep my citrus skins steeping in white vinegar to use for cleaning. You'd have enough to sell with that lot!! Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #10

  10. Can you freeze the fruit pieces or the juice? looks so yummy I'd hate to see it go to waste. I think having a new sweater ready for next winter would be nice, so keep knitting and you'll be glad you did. Enjoy the rest of the week ~ Love, Karen#32

  11. Clever idea to keep QC away from your wool Ani. Hope the jumper comes on a bit in the next week. How great to get fresh orange and grapefruit juice! Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #3

  12. Ani, I think you are doing great on that sweater and hey, no problem....you will be JUST ON TIME for next year! LOLOL Love that you have glorious fruit trees at your fingertips! How wonderful!! I totally get it though, we had the same problem when we had plum trees! It's hard to eat/juice/drink that fast isnt it! Quick thinking on your part though! Enjoy those vitamins and stay healthy! :) Felicia #28

  13. Wow Ani I'm really envious of you having oranges and grapefruits growing like that and being able to make all that gorgeous juice. My sister has lemons growing in her greenhouse here in the UK. When we visited Spain I loved seeing all the oranges on the trees. I adore oranges. It is a bit of a problem when everything ripens at once, though. Your knitting is coming on fine. My current knitting project was supposed to be finished so I could wear it this winter, but I've had to lay it aside in favour of the kitty throw for my hubby which is currently taking all my time. Maybe I'll be wearing it next winter!

    Happy WOYWW,

  16. Oh I would love tree's like you have, remember in Italy I tasted lemons from the tree and they tasted so different I am sure you knitting will get done soon. My friend only said today how many people are knitting again.

    Take care and stay safe.

  17. Hi Ani, so pleased to hear you're getting outside - there's nothing like sunshine to make a day better. Your orange juice looks delicious - it must be lovely to pick your own oranges. That reminds me of a book I read many years ago entitled 'Driving Over Lemons':which was about the author's experience of living in Spain. A very entertaining read. Have a lovely week. 18. Happy WOYWW. Sunshine and orange juice. That just sums up Spain! You still have cooler evenings to wear your jumper for a while. I always make use of soft throws when we are in Spain in the winter. Wish I could come and share some of your lovely fruit. We are stuck inside too much at the moment. Ali x. #26

  19. Just reading Elizabeth's commnet about 'Driving over Lemons' I have that book. But my dyslexia just got me through the first chapter, I was hoping it would be a film! one day. That's all because of your scrummy Orange juice! The knitting still looks great and I'm sure it will be ready to wear when you need it! Keep Crafting, Stay safe Happy WOYWW!? ((Lyn)) #16

  20. Hi Ani, how perfect - drinking your own freshly squeezed orange juice. I have apple trees, and had the same problem this year with too many apples! I ended up chopping and freezing some for use at a later date. I love the colour of your jumper, and good idea to keep the wool away from claws!! Thanks for the visit last week - I have ordered the pompom maker, just waiting for it to arrive. Have a lovely week, hugs Heather xx #21
