WOYWW 656 28th Dec

Good afternoon everyone. I wasn't going to join you this week as I am at my daughters and that means fat fingers on a mobile phone!

I have no desk to show but do have some crocheting with me just blankets for the  cat home. Pictures when I return.

I wish you all a happy and healthy 2022. Ani

WOYWW 655 22nd December

It is nearly here, so what isn't done now will remain undone.

Note to self start earlier in 2022.

These are two pet stockings I have made one for Barney and the other for my daughters cat, can't give one without the other! After all Barney will be encroaching on the cats territory over Christmas.

I am off to the sewing/knitting group this morning, then we have our Christmas lunch later. Only my 2nd one this season, thanks to Covid some of our groups have never restarted what with covid and Brexit. People who we thought of as residents  apparently weren't official residents and have disappeared back to the UK.

Sorry didn't have time to finish this before I left  this morning. Enjoyed a lovely Christmas lunch.

I wish all WOYWW a very happy Christmas, please be sensible and stay safe.

WOYWW 654 15th December

Sorry I have been very hit and miss these last few weeks, I promise to do better.

Hope you are ready for Christmas, I just don't have the Christmas feeling this year. It is quite low key here not at all commercialised.

I have a Christmas lunch with four friends on Thursday so that may put me more in the mood and another one at knitting/sewing next Wednesday. Then I am turkeyed out so it is beef for Christmas dinner.

I have been busy knitting and crocheting these blankets for our local cats home, which I delivered today. They were gratefully received.

Instead of Christmas cards for the ladies of the knitting/sewing class I made these little socks and put a wrapped chocolate in each one. Will take them today and see their reaction.

Some of you may have seen my poinsettia photo on facebook, I bought it as a small plant many years ago and planted in the garden. This year it has flowered just at the right time.

When I came to live in Spain permanently well over 20 years ago I purchased a small Christmas tree in a pot for my first Christmas, then afterwards planted it in the garden. Up until a few years ago I decorated it with lights but now it is so tall I can no longer put lights on it.

And the last garden photo is of my orange and grapefruit trees. The grapefruits are pink ones and so sweet. I am not supposed to eat them because of the tablets I take, but can't resist one every so often. I have plenty of friends who love them so they don't go to waste.

I suppose my garden has been my work area this last week, always lots of work to do this time of year.

Well that is me for this week now I will join up with the rest of the ladies at https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and hopefully visit you all during the week.

WOYWW 652

Into action finishing the cards I started at my daughters. Need to get them finished as posting dates from Spain will be coming up shortly.

All finished now packed up and priced ready to take to my knit and knatter group today.

We have had some rainy and cold days these last two weeks so the best place has been crafting with the fire on.

Evening work in front of the fire and tv has been fun things like below.

The first picture is just a little blanket                This is a elf blanket still got the

for the local cats home, using up my scraps       buckle to do.

of wool.  They are desparate

for blankets as they have so many cats in

their care at the present time.

WOYWW 646

I am still at my daughter's and crafting is taking place. Most of the cards are now coloured and layered. It is so pleasant to be able to sit crafting on her veranda and not have to break off to prepare meals. Pictures will follow when I set my table up. Becoming good at using a mobile a little different from my big screen desktop.

And my new companion when I'm crafting.

I have a number of knitted items for charity and as postage from Spain is so expensive my daughter has offered to take them back with her. I am looking for charities in the Winchester, Ipswich or Edinburgh areas where she can drop them off.

The items are hats, scarves, blankets etc and teddies for Tragedies. If anyone knows of somewhere I would be very grateful.

That is me for this week now to try to link up hope I am more successful than last week.

WOYWW 645 13th october

Good morning from a lovely sunny AbarĂ¡n in Murcia. Yes I am at my daughters again. So nothing on my work desk yet but I have come prepared with Christmas cards in readiness to paint. If they get done remains to be seen watch next week's space!

This is my little helper for this week my daughters cat, a stray that has found a good home with her.
Well this is as far as I go. I am doing all this on my mobile with great difficulty. Sorry if it is unreadable but 9/10 for effort.

WOYWW 644

Good morning to all, looks like it is going to be another beautiful day here. This is what I woke up to this morning.

So to continue the morning theme this is my breakfast I am eating while I type.

This is a typical Spanish breakfast tostada con tomate sometimes with tuna or cheese, ham etc.

Well the table is still in situ and has seen some work this week, I thought the Pigs in Blankets that Annie made were great and asked for the pattern as I have some veggie friends and wouldn't like them to miss out at Christmas! Also I think I will get away with enclosing them a Christmas card to send to the UK.

All was made from stash I had so was pleased with myself I didn't have to go searching for materials. Thank you Annie

The intention last week was to start on the C cards but that went out the window.

Next week the table will be coming down as I am off to my daughters while I have some work done at home. Will have to decide what crafts to take with me, not that I seem to have much time for crafting while I am there.

Thank you for all your messages about QC it still seems strange without her, but I have never known one of my animals take the passing of another animal so badly as Barney. Think he is slowly coming to terms with it but is never far from my side. The test will come next week when I leave him at home.

Off to prepare for my sewing/knitting group our numbers are increasing as people have started drifting back to their holiday homes for the winter. It will be interesting to see how they cope with the 90 day stay, but haven't heard anyone who is selling up because of it.

Joining up with Julia at WOYWW pop along and see what it is all about.

WOYWW 643 29th September

This week has been a very difficult one for me and Barney, on Thursday I had to make the decision to put my beloved cat to sleep. She hadn't been well for a while and it was the kindest thing to do. She had been part of my life for 16 years. Barney and I miss her terribly.

Introducing her to Morse in 2005

A small part of my mojo has come back in that the work table has made an appearance. I have been finishing off the bottle lights. Decided to paint them in the end for coverage.

Now the table is in place watch this space as the dreaded 'C' is only round the corner.

Another item I have made this week is this. (Don't look for the mistakes as knitting with dark wool at night is becoming impossible for this aging lady! Hopefully the first of many if only to use my wool stash up. Mittens to follow.

So being Wednesday I am off to my knitting/sewing group. We are now allowed to all sit together as many of our covid rules have been dropped. Even our infections didn't rise over the summer period which is very surprising considering the number of holiday makers that were here. Thankfully we now have our 'corner of enchantment' back for the residents.

Now to link up with our host for WOYWW Julia at https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/  if you wish to know what all this is about just follow the link and perhaps join us one Wednesday.

WOYWW 14th September 2021

Wow 2 weeks of September gone already.

I have started to get some of my mojo back this last week, firstly someone gave me some bottles and miniture lights to go inside them to make some Christmas lamps. They were purchased last year but because of lockdown and no Christmas fair weren't used. The bottles took some cleaning and the transfers they gave me are rub on ones that have lost their rub on over lockdown. It will be a trip to the Chinese store to see if they have any stickers to decorate them.

Another craft I have been seeing on the internet is the crochet wind spirals, found some patterns on  You Tube and by taking a bit from one pattern and a bit from another think I think I have sussed the perfect pattern now.

Not easy the hold up and take the photo yourself.

Thought it was going to be a little cooler now we are into September but not really, we had a few drops of rain yesterday. Happened to be the day my daughter came to see me but whats it matter, we managed to have a lovely lunch out and a good natter. I am so pleased she is enjoying her life in Spain and has settled into the Spanish way of life.

That's it from me tonight I am on my way to bed now. Hope you have a good week and I see I can link up with https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/before I go to bed, one less thing to do in the morning.

WOYWW 640 8th September 2021

 Good morning ladies,

I really must get my mojo back and start making some cards. I thought this last week but temperatures have risen again into the mid 30's, so I need the fans on and fans and card making don't go hand in hand.

I am off to my handicraft group this morning, at least we have been able to meet since the spring, 4 round a table now we can have a row of tables so we are all together. Will take some photos this week to show the crafts that people are doing.

Hey I managed to visit all last week and comment on all I could register still have trouble with Mary Ann.

Have a good week sorry not photos but nothing on my work desk.

Good morning Ladies, well I woke up this morning to rain yes rain bliss.

Still not much going on craftwise in this household.

I have finished the blanket and another item for the charity bag to go back to the uk when my daughter drives back.

Sorry but that is it for this week short, very short and sweet I need to go out in the rain!

WOYWW 638

Good morning, At last some respite from the hot and humid weather. Not much to show again but I am doing a wee bit of knitting/crocheting. When looking in my stash for wool came across these squares so decided to sewing together and hey presto another blanket, will take it with me to my knitting group this morning and finish off the border. Do hope I can find someone going to the UK shortly who will take all my charity knits. Only wish I could find somewhere in Spain for them all.

I am still working on the other blanket yes same colours/wool must have been a bargain lot when I purchased it. It has grown another two or three rows.

And finally the moon this morning I look at the mountains and see the moon on its way to bed, then look at the sea to see the sun rising. Except today it is cloudy over the sea and the sun is behind them.

Have a lovely week, and if you are wondering what this is all about, then just go to visit Julia at Stamping ground to discover this great bunch of people.

WOYWW 637 18th August 2021

Good morning from a sweltering Spain.

No desk or work to show this week and below is the reason  why. Just too hot to do anything no cooking, cleaning etc. Hopefully temperatures will begin to fall this next week. The trouble with living on the coast is the high humidity.

QC says hi it's been a while since she has sat by the computer. She is now over 16yrs and is certainly feeling the heat this year. Only goes out about 10pm for a wander then back inside.

So that is me for this week weather permitting there will be something to show next week. Sorry ladies.
Hope you all have a good week.

WOYWW 636

 Good morning ladies,

Not much on my desk again this week, it is just too hot to work and very hot temperatures forecast again from today. I have done some more of the jigsaw as that is under my ceiling fan and along with a standing fan I can stay cool. Note the talcume powder top right corning I had to put in on my arms and hands because the pieces kept sticking to me. I laugh sometimes at all the cosmetic goods that are involved in craft making, from baby wipes to makeup sponges and even shaving foam.

A little more crocheting has taken place but again it is too hot. Sorry the photos are great but taken early this morning and it isn't light here until 7.15am Yes that's my morning coffee.

Will now go to join our host Julia atstamping ground if you want to see what WOYWW is all about then just follow the link.

WOYWW 635

 4th August

Hello Ladies, I am now back home for a few weeks. It is so lovely to see my daughter and son in law so often now that they are living in Spain. Although 2 hours away from me it is nothing on our roads around here. I suddenly realised she is the only family I have now and we were slowly drifting apart with only one visit per year. They are really settled here and love their new life in the sun.

And boy has it been in the sun this last month.

So the reason why we are here WOYWW well in my case nothing much so what's new I hear you ask, but I have been doing a little crocheting a new single bed cover but using up wool I already have and of course the jigsaw.

This brings back memories of childhood reading. I thought it would be easy but no unless I am losing my experience at jigsaws.

This crocheting doesn't seem to grow fast but then there are 175 to a row and perhaps with the heat it is a good thing.

I really must start to think about the C word this time last year I had them all done thanks to lockdown. This year nada.

Life moves on here in Mojacar but we wonder if things will ever get back to the normal we had. Lots of Spanish holiday makers around but not many British and of course our cases are on the increase. We can only be careful and sensible and hope for the best.

Now to join with the famous WOYWW that our dear friend Julia runs, (that's if I can remember how. I have been reading your contributions over the last few weeks but it isn't easy on my little phone and commenting with my fat fingers nearly impossible. Call me old fashioned but I do like my desktop.

WOYWW 629

Here as promised Julia reporting for duty, but haven't got much to show.

My table this week is littered with photographs that I am sorting out. This is something I have been meaning to do for over 20 years since I moved to spain, The albums were purchased in the uk and have remained in their plastic covering ever since but not any more. I have promised all the photos to my daughter so she can have a laugh at how things used to be.

I am still making the teddys and have completed a drawstring bag for each one.

I will keep making them in the hope I will be able to find someone returning to the UK by car and will transport them for me. Also it is a great way of using oddments of wool and they are so easy to knit.

Below are some photos of work done by members of our Wednesday knitting/sewing group.

We are truly a gifted bunch of ladies and now that people are slowly returning to their holiday homes we are welcoming back some members we have not seen for over 18 months. Today 14 of us will sit down for our summer lunch, slowly things are returning to normal. Oh and after this weekend our face masks will be no more, only in exceptional circumstances ie supermarkets, hospitals, etc.

So along with the weather picking up life is good. Hope it is for all of you.
