WOYWW569

Shhh don't tell anyone but the sun has come back to Spain and it has been told the borders are now closed and not allowed to travel to other countries.

After a month and a half of lockdown the Spanish government are in talks of the de-escalation phase and how things can get back to normal - if they will ever be normal again. Looks as if by the weekend we will be able to go out to exercise, children were allowed out last weekend for about 1 hour under parental guidance.

So for the reason we are here, my desk or lack of it again. On my computer table I am putting together some blanket squares. You can also see my morning coffee and tablets and behind them the blanket I was knitting this last week it is growing slower. Both will be donated to charities when finished.

Now to my other table seeing all the jigsaws that were being done I decided to find mine. A 500 piece one to start that would be easy  haha anything but. The pieces are all different shapes and sizes, it already looks as if one piece is missing, but then it did come from a charity shop.
Rooting in my cupboards I have found 2 x 2000 piece ones which seem to have more standard shape pieces. One of them I purchased in the UK before I left over 20years ago, it is still unwrapped

Doesn't look very appealing does it.

So that is me for this week, hopefully by next week we will be allowed out and I will have seen some other human beings!

  1. I hope you are allowed out soon for a while at a time anyway... I think you're right, normal is going to be very different in future! Not sure that jigsaw would appeal to me, can see why it was unwrapped!! Take care, stay safe. Helen #4

  2. Happy WOYWW. As the sunshine returns to Spain, we have got some more normal UK weather - rain! We have been spoilt for so long with warm sunshine and blue skies. We do need rain for the crops on the farm though, and I tend to get on with jobs in the house more when the weather outside isn't so nice. I hope you can walk down by the beach soon. I have been really glad that we are on the farm and can walk or cycle out without seeing anyone really. I went shopping on Saturday to the local 'city' (it is the size of a small town, but is officially a city as there is a cathedral) and it was shocking to see how empty it was. Normally full of tourists. It is very hard for the businesses that have had to close. Ali x #1

  3. wow Anne a 2000 piece jigsaw is certainly a challenge and the picture doesn't look an easy one either. My parents have a 2000 piece jigsaw at home. After we did it the first time, we broke it up in four sections and bagged them all separately, to make future goes easier lol. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #2

  6. I very much hope that you will be able to get out for a walk very soon, I’ve needed the opportunity just to be able to wave at the odd passer by and reassure myself that despite all the ghastly news, things are looking OK. it must have been such a relief for families who live in flats to be able to take the children out. My mother in law and I are at the point of not caring what the puzzle picture is, we’re swapping them slowly. the odd shapes of the peanut butter puzzle are a surprise aren’t they, does it help or hinder I wonder. 2000 pieces..now that’s a big puzzle, I foresee the craft table being put back up for that one!
Your knitting looks great, pretty colours. So do you sew the squares together or whip out a crochet hook and demonstrate yet another fab skill? Stay well, and keep cautious won’t you.

  7. That's wonderful news that the government are planning on how to ease the restrictions, I think people are going to continue to be naturally cautious.
I'm not at the point where I'll do any jigsaw, I'm slightly addicted to the online ones!

  8. Oh puzzles have been a great distraction - I ordered a new one the other day and saw those ones with the irregular pieces - wasn't sure about that so I didn't get it!! That peanut butter one looks like it might be quite hard. It sounds like you have had it pretty hard there in Spain, hope things get better soon. Slowly, slowly though, everything needs time to re-group and adjust. Happy WOYWW, stay safe, stay well, Cindy #18

  10. Hi Ani. Great blanket squares - I am impressed that you are working on two blankets at once. Don't think I could manage that - too confusing for my little grey cells! As for your jigsaw - oh my! That is indeed going to take more doing than you thought - it might "only" be 500 pieces - but what pieces! Hope you get it finished before too long.
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

  11. On Ani i'm watching very closely to see how Spain starts to give people a little bit of freedom back, I saw that children were allowed out for an hour under an adults supervision how those children must have enjoyed that open space. Your blankets are coming along nicely, there's no rush just enjoy creating them and have fun with that jigsaw, they've been a blessing for my Mom for sure. Take care & Happy WoywW Tracey #14

  14. The blanket is looking great - what lovely colours. Those are odd shaped pieces in your jigsaw aren't they - it certainly does look challenging.
Hope you have a good week

  16. As a "crafter" you always find something creatively to do, I think ;) - We are closed in Denmark as well and just this week our Government decided to open up for some business very slowly. We have been able to go shopping for food but nothing else. I believe nothing will be "normal" again. Life will be different from what we knew. Hopefully more clean :) I like your jigsaw (puzzle) and small knitted squares.
Thank you ever so much for sharing
    Kind regards
