WOYWW 565

Good morning - how are we all managing during these lockdown days. I found yesterday I didn't listen/watch any news and ignored items on Corona virus on facebook and I felt much better and more relaxed and at ease.

So what I have been doing this week well certainly not going out, I have enough food for me, the dog and the cat for 15 days. The only time when I see or hear other people is at 8.00pm every evening when we all go out on our balconies or in our gardens and clap to show our appreciation for all the emergency services that are helping to keep us safe. It started off by clapping and now it is making as much noise as we can. Whistles, wooden spoons hitting pans, anything that makes a noise.

I have managed to make some cards from ... now is it upcycled or recycled cards, these cards I put together into packs of 6 as I can sell them cheaper. People like to buy Christmas cards in packs.

In the evening I sit watching television and have been knitting,  only small things that I can actually finish in a night or two. Also using up some of my stash.

4 pairs of fingerless mitts, 2 hats and 2 sets of bootees.

Even with all the rain we have had here over the last two weeks the garden is bursting into new life.
Once again my amaryllis is flowering, and I notice from the dates of 2018 & 2019 it is about two weeks earlier this year.

  1. Morning Ani. That amaryllis is lovely. Mine have just flowered, too. But they are inside on my shower room window sill, not outside. Well done on all the cards and knitting. All helps with the stash busting, doesn't it? The only trouble is, whenever I think my yarn stash is getting that bit smaller... I just don't know what happens... but suddenly it seems full again! There's just no way to win, is there? We were encouraged to go to the window or doorstep last Thursday to salute the NHS - it was an incredibly powerful moment out there listening to all the clapping and cheering. I know what you mean about the news. I listen to the headline and the main article - but when it gets to the debates and things I turn off. Having no-one else in the house makes it difficult, doesn't it, because there is no-one there to think it through with!
Take care of yourself. Stay safe. God bless.

  2. Great projects Ani. Do you think anyone will actually use up all their stash while we are isolated lol? Glad that you, barney and QC have provisions for a few weeks. I avoid going out whenever possible and we are not as locked down as Spain. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

  3. Lovely to know you are safe and well in Spain. What a marvellous attitude you have too, I like the "no news" idea brightening up your day.
The photo of your gorgeous flower reminded me of holidays abroad, seeing the lovely tiled floor of your patio, and your knitting puts me to shame as I have nothing to show from my week of isolation. What a lot you have done with the knitting and the cards - I am about to take a leaf from hyur book (so I say) and join you in the production side this coming week.
    Carry on banging the lids

  4. You really are in isolation....some days it must be a relief to get out to the door and make a noise just to check that everyone is still around! You’re doing well, and I hope that the better weather will help....sitting in the sun at an open window has to be one of the simplest pleasures. I wonder what Barney makes of it all. I totally agree with you, if I don’t watch and listen to the news, my anxiety is tolerable...there’s a lot of sensationalism going on. Yesterday I was thrilled to see a news report about someone who was at home having recovered. About time they did the positives as well. I love the little bootees..you forget how little they actually need to be! Good work with the cards too missus...are you in danger of running low on stash yet?

  6. Well done on coping so well with the isolation, keeping busy is the key and you certainly are filling your time productively. Isn't it funny how people buy the cards in packs? If that's the way to sell more then so be it! Lovely little knits there, I finished the preemie knitting, using all the yarn up to the last 10 cms....phew!

  7. Ooohh, that Amaryllis is a nice cheerful thing to look at in your isolation, ours have gone over now.
How are you coping with walking the dog when you can't get out, it must be difficult.
Lovely Christmas cards, at this rate, you will have thousands by December.
    Bless you and keep sane

  9. I so love an Amaryllis but not had one for ages, might just have to look for one when I get the chance. Loving the card collection and the knitting too. I used to like knitting but it nearly always sent me to sleep as I used to try and do it in the evening after work, probably not the best time. Take care and have a happy and creative woyww, Angela x18x

  10. I think we are all coming to realise that after being obsessed with the news the only way to get through this sane is to not listen or watch anymore. I know it's helping me.
Your Amaryllis is absolutely beautiful. I didn't know you could keep them from year to year. It obviously likes whatever you are doing to it.
Have a good week and take care

  13. Hi Ani, glad to hear you are coping well with the lockdown, so tough for people on their own but I think have crafters have the edge as I don't really know a crafter who ever says they have enough time to do everything they want. It's nice you are clapping every night - we only did Thursday but will be out again, it was nice to see the neighbours. Might not be quite so dark this week either!! Stay well, stay safe, Happy WOYWW Cindy #20

  15. Good Morning...we had 2 great days of Sunshine and No wind...it is now raining. I totally agree with your 1st paragraph. I am not a TV addict so I do listen to some CD's and enjoy the quiet. I am thankful for this group and glad I enjoy my many hobbies. Need to work on exercising ! !! I did walk the 2 great days and loved being outside. Blessing to you and yours STAY SAFE #28

  16. Hi Ani, ooh that must be really uplifting to see everyone outside together at once :) and I love that your amaryllis is blooming now :) and it makes me think I need to find a deeper pot for mine, I followed the directions that came on the box with the bulb last fall but, I have it higher out of the soil. and yep, I find my self avoiding the news. Hang in there, ~Stacy #29

  17. What a wonderful batch of very professional looking cards, Ani, and I love your little knitting projects! Nice to do something that is finished quickly once in a while, isn't it. We had an amarylis a couple of years ago, and like yours, when in full flower, it looks like a fog-horn! They are fabulous, aren't they. So glad your community is able to come together on their balconies and show appreciation all together.

Keep safe and well, and keep smiling!
    Happy WOYWW,

  18. Hi Ani, what a beauty that amaryllis is lovely to see how it's progressed each year. You've been keeping yourself really busy, it's hard watching the news each day I only watch it once now. FB is not something I have been able to deal with for a while so i'm glad I do not have to worry about that anymore. Keep busy and keep sharing it's very much appreciated.
Take care & thanks for sharing WoywW Tracey #25 x

  20. Hi Ani, no news is definitely preferable to all the doom and gloom being broadcast at the moment! Your cards are lovely, I love the sentiment "actions creak louder than words" ... so funny, I might have to save that one! Gorgeous amaryllis - a few flowers have started shooting through in my garden, so I'm looking forward to spending more time out there when it warms up. Have a lovely week and stay safe and well, Heather xx #33

  21. Beautiful Amaryllis! Do you leave it outside all winter? My hibiscus surprised us with a couple of blooms last week, and our daffodils are just peeking out of the ground. I love it when new life starts to burst, especially when all the leaves on the trees seem to come out overnight! Good for you with your cards, I hope they sell well! Have a great week, Lindart #34

  24. I have been doing the same as you and not watching the news except the headlines each morning and I've steered clear of social media too, and feel better for it. It looks like you are keeping very busy, which is definitely the key to coping with it and I love the cards you've made, they look very classy and professional. The knitting is so cute - those tiny booties - how sweet!
Thanks for the visit to my desk earlier, I used tiny dies for the vegetables and leaves - they were fiddly but I like working small!
Hope you have a good week and stay safe and well,
