WOYWW 564

Oh Ladies thank you so much for all your kind comments and thoughts. As we in Spain begin our second week of isolation you are beginning your first week. It really isn't too bad, we are allowed out to supermarkets (which are very well stocked and everyone is keeping their distance), chemists, pet shop, banks and of course the Spanish can't do without their cigarettes so tobacconists. We also don't have our own dustbins so have to take rubbish to communal bins placed along the beach road.
I have been in the house since last Tuesday and was going out yesterday but the weather was appalling and has poured with rain for days. Hopefully it is supposed to be sunny today.
So what have I been doing with my time well surprising very little.
This was my desk yesterday I am preparing to make my daughters 50th birthday card, have the plan in my head now to transfer onto paper. Then it will be looking through old photographs - no I am not going to embarrass her.

Found this old work mask in amongst the tools etc so have washed it and am going to wear it when visiting the supermarket. Everyone round here are wearing masks of some kind.
Then I thought I might make some out of pretty cotton material.
So watch this space.

Once again thanks for all your wishes and I hope you don't find isolation, lockdown whatever you want to call it that bad. It isn't really as long as you have plenty to do. Also thanks to social media and video calls I don't really feel on my own, well I'm not as I have a dog and cat to talk to!
Now to link up with Julia our host on her page http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/

  1. I am glad the lockdown has come ani, if only to keep the Covidiots off the streets. I can't believe some of the businesses that are keeping going (a colleagues husband works for a company which makes casino tables and they have been told to continue going into work). About time the Government stepped in and shut down ALL unnecessary factories/work places. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #10

  2. Good to have a plan when you are making an important birthday card and I like the idea of making your own mask. Probably does just what is needed for those quick trips to the shop. Enjoy your time crafting as you seem to have a some great projects to start.

  3. Morning Ani. It takes a time to adapt to the new normal, doesn't it? To think more carefully about what you are going to buy - make one journey do for lots of different things, then stay home. Not much open here now as the government has shut many shops. I'm happy, but don't have a dog or cat to talk to... do you think folks will reckon I have completely lost it if I tell you I "think out loud"??!!
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

  4. So glad you are keeping safe. It is amazing how we adapt isn't it. Just chuckling at Margaret's comment about thinking outloud - we all do it don't we! lol Keep safe. xx Jo

  5. I'm glad you're keeping ok, technology helps so much with keeping in touch. And I reckon that while the situation is frustrating, it could be so much worse. I'm enjoying crafting a little but am not doing that much either but I have seen quite a few free tutorials for masks.

  7. Hope you are getting lots of cuddles from your pets too. How do you manage to exercise the dog? That is something I never thought of before.
Spain has been hit badly so I always think of you when I see or hear something about your country of residence.
Isn't the weather strange - we are warmer than Australia apparently and with your rain obviously better off than you - but for how long?
Keep up the sewing and stay safe and well

  8. Hi Ani, it's a shame the lockdown had to be put in place, mainly due to all the idiots going out last weekend, like it was a bank holiday!Really can't believe the stupidity of people. Good to hear your shops are well stocked, getting better here, but mainly because supermarkets have been rationing quantities, as people have been being too selfish! We've seen how badly Spain has been hit with the virus. Stay safe,Have a good week, Huge hugs, Shaz #1 X

  9. I can't believe your weather, it's bright sunshine here though I believe it may go cooler at the weekend which might be a good thing to keep people in-doors. I saw you message and I'll open the little drawers again soon so you can have a nosey inside. Be sure you're not the only one that likes a peek in there. Sending you best wishes for a happy and creative woyww, Angela x3x

  11. It's good to hear you are coping in this mad world we are living in. I'm certain that us crafters will cope better than most as there is always plenty to occupy our time.
    Stay safe and keep crafting.

  12. MY sister brought me a make for when I do go out but so far I'm on day 8 and still doing well with the groceries. The store shelves are bare anyway so it's all good here. Stay well!

  13. Glad to hear you are coping OK, Ani, and no, it's really not too bad here. For me, lockdown isn't much different from normal as I'm pretty much housebound unless my hubby takes me. Fortunately I love being a home bird and being surrounded by the kitties and all my favourite things, and now with the added bonus of having my hubby around all the time, too! Quite a rare thing, not experienced since the time he broke his leg.

I hope your daughter manages to celebrate her landmark birthday in some sort of style given the circumstances! She will enjoy a hand made card from Mum, at any rate.

Happy WOYWW, and stay safe and well,

  14. So far it's not bad here in Arizona, USA, but trying to keep busy. My job is on hold for the time but hubby is busy repairing farm equipment in his shop. Hope your daughter has a good birthday celebration somehow!

  15. Glad to hear you are doing Ok - still can't quite believe what is happenning. Staying home not an issue for me, always plenty to do, and hubby is occupied with the garden, 1 kid working from home (have to make sure I'm not in my pjs when shes on conference call) and the other is building some huge creation for his D & D games. Hope you are over the worst soon, we aren't quite there yet. Happy WOYWW (I'm late I know) keep well, keep safe, Cindy #23

  16. It is always so nice to hear from you and to hear that you are doing well. It is a shame about the weather - for once the UK has been nicer than spain with glorious wall to wall sunshine here. Happy Belated WOYWW. Stay safe my friend. Take care, with love & God Bless, Caro xx (#15)

  17. Hello. I am still making my rounds. I am glad to hear you are well and in good spirits. The weather here is cool but sunny. I plan to make a break and go sit on my deck for some fresh air this afternoon when the temp reaches it's highest temp. I will put a coat on if necessary because I know how important it is to have daily fresh air. I agree that this homebound isn't so bad with great hobbies. I love to read and have been reading, listening to audiobooks and of course playing on my craft table. I even ordered a couple of puzzles to do with my family. So I feel plenty busy.
    Stay well, my friend.

  19. Sorry I’m late...something to do with having more time, I think! So glad to hear that you’re OK, please to keep it that way. Made me smile about the tobacconists having to stay open, gosh there would be a lot of very bitten nails and bad tempered men about if not! It’s probably a crass generalisation but I do think its mostly men that smoke in Spain, it seems almost like a rite of passsage into adulthood. I think having a communal bin on the beach road is suddenly a good thing...I know it means you have to be careful about how close you get if other people are about, but you get a sight of the beach each time...lovely! Except, blimey...lots of rain whilst we are basking in early spring sunshine. Brimming cold overnight though! I think some cotton masks will be more comfortable...my sister in the USA has been making dozens from a pattern she found online, all her friends are wearing them, and her daughter in law is a children’s nurse so she’s had loads too. Helpful because supplies of the real thing aren’t getting through very well, almost everywhere. I know you’ll have fun making the card for your daughters big 50...and going through the photos. This could take days!
