Good morning from a very hot humid Spain. We are experiencing extreme temperatures for this time of year. Goodness knows what August holds for us.
I and my friends are nervous of fires as a few years ago we had serious fires and had to abandon our homes. Being a Girl Guide I am now prepared and have the cat carriers, food, water, and important documents to hand just in case.
So with the heat and my daughters visit and also a friends visiting from Lanzarote this week, I have not returned to craft mode yet, but found this broderie anglaise material in my stash and thought I could make a cool top for myself. It will be rectangle folded in half sides sewn up and a hole for my head to go through. Sounds easy enough but.....
It is white but the table underneath is cream.
Off to my knit and natter group this morning, then home to make some puff pastry savoury swirls to take to my Woman on Wednesday group (WOW) it's all W's on Wednesday as we are having a closing party, the bar where we meet is not having their lease renewed so we will have to find another bar or that is it. There are not many bars that want us this time of the year but are glad of our custom over the winter months!
So now over to Julia who seems to be having a great time in US. Reading her post it is such a small world. Have a good week one and all.

First up congrats on your win over at Jan's place you lucky girl.
ReplyDeleteLucky you with the weather, even though it's hot. We are sick of the rain and wintry conditions. Guess we can't win can we haha
Enjoy your meet up

Hi Ani. Yes, congratulations on your win - what a lovely gift! That broderie anglais on your table is just like some of the fabric I used in my wedding dress. The styles and patterns of it just never change or date - wonderful - thanks for the reminder!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see the girl guide in you coming out - be prepared!! - but I do hope you won't need to use your preparations.
Take care. God bless.

Hiya Ani! Just to let you know, you won the giveaway over at my blog! Please could you email me your address so I can get it in the post?
ReplyDeleteLovely Broderie Anglaise, I bet you feel cooler just looking at it..you'll have to show us the finished top!
Hugs LLJ 13 xx
Hi Ani, I do hope you find somewhere for your group, would be such a shame to disband. Love the fabric. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #10 XxX
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabric, Ani - I am sure you will make something really pretty with it, and nice and cool too. Thank you for your visit - I think the new cat tree is substantial enough to withstand the onslought of 2 active youngsters but we shall see! Off to see them for the first time tomorrow. Can't wait. My studio has always been out of bounds to kitties because our old one, Beatrice, was far too nosy and destructive to be let loose in there, but we shall see!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW,

Your "Knit and Natter" group sounds like a genuine treat. I think you are wise to activate your "Girl Guide" approach to everybody's safety, including that of your pets! Very thoughtful to keep thinking ahead. As a former American Girl Scout (well, once a scout always a scout, really Lolz), I appreciate that sort of thinking. here's hoping that August this year will be cooler and even nicer than expected!

ReplyDeleteHi Ani, the weather has broke here and it has poured it down. Some places have had a whole months rain in one day! Our pond is well up so just as well we have it netted. It sounds so hot where you are no wonder the Spanish like to siesta! Have a lovely woyww and a happy crafty week, Angela x18x
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to be prepared, let's hope you don't have to use it! That fabric is very pretty, I've always like eyelet fabric, and I'm sure it will be nice and cool in the heat! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #35

Hiya, just to let you know that I sent off your parcel today (Thursday) so hopefully it won't be too long before it arrives! I would have emailed you but mugging here accidentally deleted your mail. Doh...
ReplyDeleteHugs LLJ 😳 Xxx
Maybe I am crzy but wish we had the heat here in Sweden. I guess it´s because it´s almost always bad weather here so I looove the sunny days at summertime. They are few though.
ReplyDeleteBut I understand the fear of fires...
We had one terrible forest fire in my area 2014.
I do not participate this week, I still have to visit blogs from last weeks WOYWW and this week I´m just looking around.
Happy week to you! Don´t melt! ;D
Sussie
I remember as a kid seeing that pattern as a dress I think it is a lovely piece of fabric hugs Nikki
ReplyDeleteKnit and Natter groups at home are held in garden centres, Spain has a much better idea if it advocates using bars LOL. Hope you find somewhere.
ReplyDeleteFunny how I moan about the weather being the opposite to yours but yours is a worry and I can understand your being on edge. Good that you have the important things ready to go.
Hoping things are going well for you.
Hugs, Neet (sorry I am late but I have been ill this week)
