WOYWW 405

Good morning all, Firstly an apology for not reading and commenting on most of the posts last Wednesday. I was having trouble with my internet, then when it was repaired I kept losing signal. Finally it was Saturday before all was sorted and when I looked - oh so many to read. So to the ones who got a comment you were extremely lucky.

We don't have fibre optic here in Mojacar and I only have a max. of 2mb so takes me ages to load photos etc. but hope is on the horizon or should I say underground as work has begun on laying fibre optic cables but we have been told it will be medical and businesses first and little old me will probably be last up on top of the hill. After all only 10 years ago I had no internet.

Now for WOYWW, well it is Tuesday's photo actually, as we are celebrating International Womens day today, I shall be going to my sewing/knitting group but leaving early to catch a coach to take us to one of the local golf clubs for a special luncheon. As I am the publicity officer for our Dames in Spain no doubt there will be pictures next week.

An even less cluttered desk this week, I fancied some therapeutic colouring/painting and thought it about time I increased my stock of stamped images. So out with the stamps, ink pads etc. Am I the only person to have stamps never used? Must admit the unused ones are mostly rubber ones so cutting, mounting etc is a bind. Anyone got some ideas about this.

This appeared on my face book page this week someone thought it apt for me obviously.

Will try and get round to reading and commenting all this week.

  4. Colouring can be so relaxing can't it. You look very busy there. I have many stamps never used, but I hope to remedy that soon. I never mount rubber stamps, just cut them out and stick them to laminated sheets using a glue stick and use the same glue stick to put them onto to stamping blocks. It works for me although for larger stamps I put a wad of paper underneath the stamping card to make a cushion so that they stamp well. Hope that helps.

  5. No, you are not the only one to have unused stamps laying around. Sadly, I have quite a few. I spy them on someone's blog, feel I have to have them but by the time I find them on sale and get them in the mail, I forget where I saw them so they get put away.
Like the sheet with the flowers stamped and colored. #24

  6. Absolutely not the only person with unused stamps. Mind you these days I don't mount the rubber ones, I use removable spray adhesive and a stamp mat underneath. Sarah #29

  7. hi Anni, I also have unused stamps.. guess we all do.
Unmounted does not need to be mounted. You can cut them out and attach them with a glue stick onto a stamping block. Stamp on a stamp foam. I've done this as the ez mount was getting too expensive and was a tip given me by another crafter.
    Happy WOYWW!
    Thanks for sharing your inspiration!

  8. I agree with the advice already given - I use a repositional spray adhesive on my acrylic blocks and just stick the rubber straight on. I can sympathise with you about your internet as we live out in the countryside and it doesn't work half of the time and when it does, it is extremely slow.

  9. I completely understand - never fear I'm sure no one minds if you have an 'offline' week, all the more important for those with fibre optic to let you know we can see you, even if we can't hear you, as regards your desk? there is nothing more therapeutic than a bit of colouring eh? Dx #32

  10. It must be so tedious having to wait for the internets to appear, I feel bad for you. But also good, because it will get to you eventually! I have unused stamps. Mostly Christmas ones that I get so excited about during September and October and I have to buy them all. Have a great week - EmbroidRage #5 x

  12. My advice for your new stamps is don't mount them at all! Just use them the way they are. No fuss no muss. I stamp my plain unmounted rubber using a soft mouse pad under my paper - works like a charm! Have fun at your luncheon! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #43

  13. Hi Ani, no you are not alone. I have been shocked at times at just how many stamps I have that I've not used. I don't mount my red rubber anymore, I have Tack 'n Peel on some blocks, and store the bare rubber in Currency/trading card/postcard sleeves. Some do have a temporary adhesive on the back, but as that wears off they will go into sleeves.Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz Xxx

  14. It's not unused stamps with me, more like fat quarters still tied up in their ribbon...cough. We do build up our stash like crafting magpies eh?!

  15. Never used stamps . . . well, maybe a few, although already mounted or acrylic! :) I like the idea of stamping & color some to have on hand for cards or scrapbook embellishments.

  16. Ooh no, in fact Darlene has a challenge going and a blog based around 'never before used stuff', and largely, it's stamps!! We have a place near Torrevieja and it always amuses us that the broadband is advertised as super fast at 3mb, so yep, I guess you're going to have to be very patient! I use tack n peel on my Unmounteds...happy to source and post some for you if you can't find any and want to try it!

  17. Well, first of all you must be a busy lady with being publicity officer for your group of ladies . Think you can be excused being messy although I certainly don't think you are judging by your desk.
Darnell has a challenge for using unused stamps and djkardkreations is her blog name. She is a lovely lady.

  18. Yes, sometimes colouring in is just what I feel like doing too. Sort of relaxing, isn't it? It must be a bit frustrating to not be able to easily source your craft supplies but maybe living where you do makes up for it :)

  22. It's so annoying when you lose your internet. Ours is sometimes temperamental. 2mbps is very slow indeed. We've got 15 mbps and even that can be laggy sometimes, especially when there are three of us using it. Hope you get connected to fibre optic soon! Lovely colouring and so true about creativity! Thanks for visiting yesterday! Enjoy your week! zsuzsa #30

  24. Sorry about your Internet woes. Most of the time we just take it for granted, don't we, and when it goes down, we can't cope! It's easy to forget that only a few years ago we didn't even have it at all! So nice to be colouring in, isn't it! Great minds think alike... I have got some stamps that haven't been used, but mostly they are part of sets that I bought because I did want to use other ones in the set. Some of the less likely ones do get used for texture and in layering so they aren't so obvious. I don't have many picture stamps apart from some stylised flowers and butterflies, mostly texture and background ones, and plenty of text stamps. I always buy cling mount stamps, or mount the unmounted ones with EZ-mount foam because I prefer them this way. I'm not an expert stamper and have got a Tim Holtz stamp platform on order which I am looking forward to having as I'm sure it will improve my technique!

I love the picture at the head of your blog - your kitties particularly are really beautiful!!

Thank you for your lovely comment and your kind words.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  25. Hi Ani, Your cat has beautiful eyes.

    That quote is spot on:)

Sure looks like you have been busy stamping and colouring. Still it will keep you out of mischeif.

Hope the fibre connections go in quicker than you expect.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  26. Looks like there is lots of colouring going on at your desk. I've been finding myself doing more of it lately - trying to colour some of the images I've stamped.

Love the quote - so true.
