WOYWW 904 30/9/26

Well here we are another month gone, and nothing much to show for it on my table but I do have some beautiful sky pictures.

This is the sun coming to say hello.

And this is the moon saying hello the day has ended.

I am beginning to make some ¨C¨ things, these are little hats with a bombon inside. I always make something each year for the elderly folk when we have our Christmas lunch and seeing as there are about 70 of us have to start early. The trouble is I cannot put the chocolate in them as the weather is still too hot! Good excuse to eat them myself, I had to buy a packet to test if they were the correct size.

Well I have managed to visit today let´s hope I can keep it up.

WOYWW 903 23rd September

Sorry I missed last week no excuse, but here I am for 902 well not quite  perhaps 903 if I remember to publish.

I have decided the time has come to say goodbye to a great deal of my craft materials. Many of which I transported here from the UK over 25 years ago. Along with those purchased on my travels back to UK and those I have gained while I have been in Spain.  A friend asked me only this week had I any black eyes for a tortoise. Yes said I big, med or small. Anything crafty ask Ann she is sure to have it. Cottons, binding, ribbon, machine needles, tapestry wool, knitting wool, embroidery silks etc you name it I will probably have it.

I have made a start on my rolls of material stash this week, cutting into managable lengths to take to to some of our charity shops. Cutting up is better as they haven´t the room to stock rolls and cut to various lengths. (If only you lived near to me Jan I am sure you could find use for all my material), I will have to wait for my daughter and son in law to visit to get the bigger rolls of ¨C¨ material, but it will need to be done soon to give other crafters chance to make their wares.

Oh my gosh I typed this out then forgot to publish it, the story of my life at present, so it will have to wait til next week.

I have remember today haha.

WOYWW 900

Wow it is lovely to be joining you again on this great day. Congratulations to the person who had the idea of this fantastic site and all who have contributed week in week out.

I have looked back and my first post was 6th April 2016.

I haven´t been well over the past 18 months but read WOYWW every Wednesday and haven´t joined you because all my get up and go has gone. I have tried knitting, crocheting, but apart from one crocheted blanket have had nothing on my work desk. I don´t even have a work desk any more as all my crafty things are downstairs, and I now live upstairs.

Last week I got someone to bring my portable sewing machine upstairs so I could put some new ruffle on my curtains. Oh, the excitement, it did take me over ten minutes to thread the needle even with the help of a needle threader! (I am still waiting for my 2nd cataract op).

I have never met any of you and probably never will as I live in Spain and never return to the UK anymore. The nearest I have been to you all was when (during covid I think) a zoom meeting was arranged instead of a crop. It was great to put faces to names.

I still have the ATC cards traded during the years, no photo though as they are pinned up in my sewing room downstairs and that is out of bounds to me. By order of my daughter I am not allowed downstairs! My treasured gift was from Jan and it is used nearly every day, not sure of its age now. Thank you Jan.

So a happy 900 edition, congratulations to all and here´s to the 1000 in the year 2028! If my maths serves me correctly. Gosh that will be one big celebration.

Now to see if I remember how to link you, bear with me please.

WOYWW 867 14th January 2026

 WOYWW

Yes it´s me again. Thought I was progressing healthwise but it is a case of one step forward and two steps back at the moment. At least I am driving again although only round our local town, but it is giving me some freedom.

It is also going very slowly craftwise but I have started knitting again, only small knitted toys like octopuses (must admit I had to look up the plural) and some angels.  I have not gone back to my sewing group as it has been so cold and damp here and the bar where we meet has no heating. I have heard another craft group that meets in a hotel so when I am free on a Friday think I will pay them a visit. It will certainly be warmer inside the hotel.

I am now limited on space as I have moved upstairs in my house, it makes it easier for me to get around with my walker. So this is the only table I have available to me. A glass topped coffee table. Yes, that´s Barney he is still with me, I now call him my assistance dog as he has done so much for me. We  make a good team.

WOYWW 864

 Hello everyone.

I have no photos of any work to show you as I don´t seem to be able to motivate myself into handicraft mode.

I have been in hospital again after my blood tests showed iron and haemoglobin levels were low.  I must admit the treatment I have received has been first class. I am now under  kidney, cardiologist and haematologist specialists.

I read your contributions every week so am keeping my eye on you all. Hopefully I will feel better in the new year and able to join in with WOYWW.

So I wish you all and a Very Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year.

WOYWW 850 17th September

I am having an at home day today and am supposed to be resting but it is not gòing to plan. Wibbly wobby knees when I stand up, that´s what happend when I broke my leg and I certainly don´t want to go down that road again.

I have no craft items to show as I haven´t been allowed downstairs into my craft room. But watch this space once I get started.

WOYWW 10th September

Another sunny day here in Mojacar and I am slowly getting used to my new living quarters. My daughter came last Saturday and filled my freezer with goodies like Jamie Oliver fish cakes, Roast leg of lamb  complete with roast potatoes and a very tasty gravy. All I have at the moment for cooking is an airfryer, microwave, toaster and kettle.

As far as handycraft materials I have finished the blanket corner to corner, but how to take a photo of it on my new laptop I do not know. All my wool, card making material etc is downstairs - where I am not allowed to venture on my own.

Took photo on my `phone and by magic it appeared on here!

That´s me for today I hope you all have a good week.

WOYWW 29th August

Yes I´m back for the second time trying to write this blog on a new laptop, HELP I´ve already lost the first few paragraphs.

Well as I was saying I am now out of that ghastly nursing home, and at my daughters until Friday when I shall go home to my dear old Barney. I´v seen him a few times but have missed him so much.

Thank you for all your get well wishes and also birthday wishes yes I have been in there nearly 3 months missed all the summer and the very hot wearher we have been having. It topped over 40 on Sunday and we had a fire the other side of the valley, fortunately the fire service along with the helicopters were in  attendance very quickly.

I have no work desk to show you but have been doing a little knitting while in the home. Only charity blankets something that didn´t need concentrating on.

Pictures hopefully next week.

I have kept up with  you all most weeks but only on my phone and having fat fingers couldn´t comment.

 WOYWW 828 16th April

So sorry I haven't been with you for months but after having flu vaccine I was really ill with flu, from there they  discovered I had a heart condition, and was immediately sent to hospital where I was fitted with a stent. Since then I have had nothing but trouble. I collapsed in a local hotel and was rushed to hospital. I am now back home waiting to start lots of other tests including a24 monitor aft Easter.

I have none no crafting just haven't the energy, well I have some wool on needles knitting baby blanket.

Lovely to be back with you I am getting sick of seeing the same 4 walls even though I have the view of the sea. I  can only go out with someone is available to take me as very unsteady of my feet.

WOYWW 800 2nd October 2024

 WOYWW 800 2nd October

Hello it's me again. Congratulations on the 800..

My first venture onto the WOYWW was 6th April 2016 I used to be a regular contributor but thing lapsed as I have craft group on Wednesdays and have to leave by 9.00am.

Now the heat of the summer has past I feel like returning to normal - well whatever normal is in my life.

I have done a little crafting over the very hot summer we have had this year. Mostly small things for charity. We have the Ukraine priest coming to our sewing group today, he helped distribute the goods we sent over to Ukraine, but eventually got stopped when one of the drivers got killed. The team are hoping to go over with some goods before Christmas.

Above are some bits and pieces I have been knitting. The snowmen are to give to our patients and carers group - Stepping Stones that meet every Thursday. It is a group for people and their carers, we play games, give them lunch and provide whatever help we can.

Well congratulations all the members of WOYWW and here's to the next 800.

WOYWW

So sorry to hear that Julia has resigned from WOYWW but hey welcome Sarah. I wish you all the best.

I am still persevering with the Spanish ladies and their bargello work. I have finished the first one. sorry no pictures as I am staying at my daughters. This is a new one I am doing. We have been told an exhibition of our work is to take place next month!

Sorry for any mistakes but writing  this on my mobile much prefer my desktop.

Wednesday, 1 May 2024

Gosh my last post on here 26th April 2023 with 'hello from sunny Spain. Wish I could say that today, this afternoon we had a short downpour, if only it had been more. We are desperately short of water and every little drop is precious. it is also cold, well in my opinion.

I have still been doing craft work over the last 12 months but have cut down drastically on what I do. No more sewing, but still hoping to do some knitting and crochet work.

I have joined a small Spanish group of ladies who do work called 'Bargello'.

This is one of the ladies designs,

And this is my small design, only small  to start with.

Some of the ladies are making rugs, which will be backed with hessian then a non slip rug material. I can just imagine them in an old Spanish finca.

I am now trying to design some smaller Christmas wall hangings. I am hoping by joining this group will also improve my conversational spanish. One can always hope.

So that is me after a 12 month gap year.

I will now see if I can remember how to link up with Julia at https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ That's one bit done.

Wednesday, 26 April 2023

Hello from sunny spain where it is getting hotter and hotter every day. Think it is going to be a long hot summer here.

Nothing much on my work desk today but I am knitting some soft toys that will eventually find there way to the Ukraine in the summer. The convoys of goods seems to have slowed down but I think now more than ever the people must need things as they try to rebuild  their lives. Our sewing group are collecting toiletries, toys, etc but we have been told no clothes.

Another pleasure of mine are jigsaws and this is the latest one to be finished by the end of April. I am trying to do one a month.

And finally one of Barney singing (howling) to the TV either Midsomer Murders or the Flash advert.

Sorry about the first link I am having great trouble with Blogger, no idea what happened. If this doesn't work I may have to open a new titled blog page. wish me luck.

WOYWW 12th April

Good morning ladies. this is being done on my phone rather than my lovely big desktop, the reason I am spending some time at my daughters. So this is my work desk today. I have a picture of lovely blue swimming pool and my project for the week but I have tried on phone, ipad, (I have just been given my daughters old one)and finally kindle but no pictures. so this is me for this week. perhaps next week.

WOYWW 712

Good afternoon from a very cold and damp Mojacar. Yesterday our temperatures plummeted and the rains came. Out with the jumpers, throws, wraps even an old duvet for the bed!

This is the first item I ever crocheted and it still lives on my chair winter or summer, was I glad of it yesterday. A little thinner these days from all the washing but still serves its purpose.

Unfortunately I haven't finished the jumper I started last week about 1/3rd up the back, that is because every time I pass the jigsaw table it calls me to put some more pieces in.

The slippers I crocheted last week were taken to my sewing/knitting group and straight away someone asked me what I was doing with them - nothing I replied and she asked if she could have them. Sold to the lady in the corner!!

So for this week's work it is knitting and jigsaw and keeping warm. Spanish houses are so cold as they have no damp coursing or insulation especially old ones like mine, at least the more modern ones are built a little differently.

Now to link up with Julia our hostess for the day at https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ drop in and see what it is all about. Have a good week.

WOYWW 18th Jan.

Gosh we are more than half way through January and my resolution not to buy any more wool went out the window on Tuesday. Well the weather has become wintery so I need an extra jumper!

Well when needs must!

So this week hasn't seen much action in this house as we have been enjoying unusual warm weather for this time of year I have been out and about. But yesterday we had some high winds and temperature drop.

I finished the crochet slippers but have adapted the pattern  as had difficulty watching and crocheting off youtube. Also the darker wool didn't help so changed to bright yellow.

So that is me for this week watch this space to see how far I get with the jumper!

Now to join up with Julia our hostess https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/  and I am off to my sewing/knitting group and I am late!!

WOYWW 709 4th January 2023

A happy new year to you all as you settle down to what 2023 has to offer. Here in Spain our festivities aren't over. We still have 3 Kings tomorrow evening and the next day. Originally the children received their presents on the eve of 3 kings  and I think some still do  but also have some on Christmas eve. Suppose it makes sense as the 3 kings presented Jesus with gifts.

Nothing much on the crafting front as the tables etc were needed this Christmas as I cooked on Christmas eve and again for my friend on Christmas day. This is a first for many years.

I have been trying to fathom out a crochet slipper pattern off YouTube.  Something I saw on face book and thought mmm that looks easy!! Once mastered to my own written pattern I think they will be able to complete quickly.

And seeing as the tables are now cleared the first thing I put on there was a jigsaw, this must be many years old as the pieces are really worn.

Just looked up from computer and can't believe it is nearly 8am and still completely dark!

I shall finish this when I return from my sewing/knitting group so bear with me

Woops forgot about finishing so now I am nearly out of time.  Will link up with our host Julia at https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/ and wish you all a goodnight.

WOYWW 707?

Woke late this morning so in a spin. As you know it is my knitting/sewing group  on Wednesday mornings and today we have our Christmas lunch afterwards. Below is what I made for each member attending, these are instead of cards, a felt heart and chocolate. Last year it was a stocking. some of the ladies said they still have them. Oh for next year if I am still in Mojacar!

Along with a jigsaw that I have enjoyed doing, nothing on the table/desk today in fact no table at all.

Finally members of the sewing/knitting group eagerly awaiting their lunch.

All that is left for me to say is A very merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year to you all.

Oh forgot, to link up with Julia our host at https://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/

WOYWW 704

Apologies to start firstly I am writing this on my phone where everything is so small for my fat fingers and secondly sorry for being absent for 2 weeks.

I am still in the middle of clearing out ready to put my house on the market after Christmas. All my craft stuff is done - all in plastic boxes and labelled. Next will be kitchen utensils etc.

I have managed to do some craft work mostly knitting. Now how do I get the photos on here?

Some little cuddle blankets.

And a Christmas blanket for me. Our weather has suddenly changed this week although still warm during the day it goes cool at night.

That is me for this week, not bad for a first attempt on my new phone. Enjoy your week. Ani

WOYWW 701

Good evening one and all, sorry I am so late this week but better late than never.

I have been to my knitting/sewing group this morning, our numbers keep increasing with the visitors here for a few weeks before Christmas. Some find it annoying that they can no longer come from October until Easter thanks to Brexit.

I am still surrounded with boxes, so not much crafting going on. I have started a jigsaw as I needed a distraction. It maybe only 500 pieces but that sea!!

My table hasn't been vacant as soon as one spot gets cleared something else is placed there.

Most of the things in my sewing room are now in boxes. Think I will still have to get rid of somethings as I am looking for a two bedroom villa and all on one level. I must have disposed of quite a lot because of the empty boxes, but funny thing is I can't find the lids.

Started on my card room now, all the pieces of card I have kept just in case!!! Bet you all do the same. All the other bits and pieces I kept just in case I could use them.  I need to empty these shelves because there may be some lids down behind and goodness knows what else.

I was pleased to see at the group this morning two of the girls had made use of some of my material.

This is a cushion/bag for a grandson
 using my material

and a cross stitch cabbage cushion backed with some of my material.

So that is me for today sorry not much crafting.

PS as I type this it is thundering so waiting for the rain. I noticed a change in temp last night and now have a jumper on!!

I will try and visit you all this week.
