WOYWW 471

Half way through the year and the weather is beginning to get hot, hot. hot.

So to join in with Julia and others around the world looking what is on our work desks.

This week I have no work desk, put all away last week and have not reloaded. I am having a change of craft and have been knitting squares in response to a call for blankets for the homeless. I have sorted all my wool out and put together a mixture of odds and bobs - a great way to use up odd balls and boy do I need to get rid of some. These are some of the squares along with some 'cross in your pocket' I have made this week. I now have to sew or crochet them together.

It is good to make small things like this when the weather gets hot - not to heavy on the knee and easy to carry around from one shady place to another. I am not one for sitting out in the sun find it very boring.
We always say in winter you can tell the locals as they are tanned and in summer they are quite pale in comparison to the tourists.

I have noticed since the new privacy rules came in I don't get notification of comments through my email, does anyone know how to reinstall this option? I have clicked on all sorts of icons to no avail.

Now to link up with Julia at http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/

  1. can't help with your notification thing.. I have never gone for that option. Did smile at your comment about the winter/summer tan thing though, that sounds about right to me! I don't enjoy sitting in the sun either, my skin is too pale and doesn't tan. Have a knitty week! Helen #2

  2. Lovely squares on show, hope we get to see the whole quilt in all its glory when you have put them all together.
Not a clue how to get your notification back, would be interested to know as mine has stopped as well. Never thought it might be to do with that. Good thinking!
    How's the new addition?

  3. Beautiful squares. I think they are gorgeous. You have super knitting skills.

I just helped a lady tonight while waiting for Julia. I was told, although, like Helen, I don't use that option, that you can receive notifications if you leave a message to yourself and click on the box telling it to send e-mails to your e-address. However, I think you must change from embedded comments to pop-up comments to see and check the box.

Hope that helps in some way. Happy WOYWW from #6.

  5. Morning Ani. My word, you were hot off the mark last evening when I posted early! Thanks for your comment - the towing really was incredible fun!! I don't have a clue about the emails - I used to have that facility years ago with one provider, but don't with this one, so hadn't given it a thought, sorry. I know what you mean about the weight of the blanket!!! I'm currently trying to finish one for Uganda - and it is so incredibly hot as I sit doing it in the evenings. Still, nearly finished it now - only the one more ball of wool to go!
    Take care. God bless.

  6. Happy WOYWW. It made me chuckle about the weather and how it effects us. I am the opposite - I only seem to knit during the winter. With these light evenings I don't feel like getting the needles/yarn out at all. However, I can understand how it may be different in Spain. I can test that out myself next year, when hopefully we will have our own Spanish house. Already, when we see a house online I am looking to see if there is room for me to have my own craft room, and whether there is a large enough dining area to host some workshops! Seen a townhouse in a village that I have already made some crafty friends (a couple of British artists live there), and that had a 3rd bedroom with access to the upstairs terrace perfect for a craft room - and also a large dining table downstairs. Now I all need to do is persuade hubby to up the budget a bit so we can at least view it when we next go in September. Ali x #11

  7. What a great way to use up those left over bits of wool, a real sense of achievement when you know they will be appreciated and going to a well worthy cause. I chop and change crafts all the time just like the weather and changes in the season, it keeps me on my toes!!
Happy WOYWW and Thank you for sharing.

  9. Great use of the bits and bobs of wool Ann. You're right about it being a good idea to craft light given the weather. I don't like sitting out in the sun either, I'd rather be doing something. Have a good week. Sarah #16

  13. Loving your little projects, so sweet. I've contacted Google and they are supposed to be sorting the email problem. I don't think there is anything we can do ourselves. I've checked my settings and it's all switched on but not working so think we will just have to be patient which is very annoying and it seems to be taking too long. I think if enough people complain they might get a move on with it. Thanks for the visit to mine, have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela x18x

  14. Ah I find the same, and usually take some crochet to do when we're in Spain, just simple squares, nothing stifling!! I expect it will be a while before you feel the need to fill out the craft table again, after the marathon efforts last time!
