A Happy New Year to All

As most of my friends will know I have been incapacitated during the last few months. After waiting for over a year (because of other medical reasons) for a new hip I finally went into hospital at the beginning of November for my long awaited new hip but I hadn't counted on the after effects. My hip is absolutely fine but I developed sores which turned to ulcers and I am still suffering with them. If anyone says to you they have ulcers please sympathise with them, the pain as been excruciating, the nurses are still coming to my home to dress them, this means I have been more or less housebound three days a week. I cannot drive not because of my hip but because I cannot sit in the seat properly!

I have been trying to exercise but not always easy, this week I have started walking along the paseo, I don't have the confidence to go without my crutch outdoors but am managing inside without. Obviously my recover has been put back because of the ulcers.

Enough of that.

So what have I been doing to fill my time, well I started knitting blanket squares because I found I couldn't concentrate on anything more difficult, managed to finish two blankets that I passed to a member of Llanos church for the Greenfields Africa projects.

Then began knitting some hand puppets that was requested by another charity organisation. These are great fun to do and so simple.

A week or so ago I started going back to the sewing group where I found that small mittens etc were needed for our local hospital, so have knitted a few pairs - no photo though as I have already passed them on to a lady who is going to take them to the hospital next week.

Christmas 2015 did not really exist as I couldn't do much but between Vojta and myself we managed to cook a lovely piece of T-bone beef. I couldn't send any cards or buy any presents so for this please accept my apologies.

The 'cross in my pocket' are still proving popular,  have had two requests to please make some more, I have made about 20 and will make sure they reach the people who have asked for them. Imagine they will make a good Easter presents.

We have had a very mild winter here in Spain yesterday the temperature was in the 20's and looking at the dawn sky this morning looks like we are in for another warm day.

Being laid up these last few months has made me realise what an awful amount of 'stuff' I have in my house, craft wise and other. So I have started to do something about it and began a massive clear up and throw out. I have two workrooms one full of card making material and cross stitch and the other sewing material and wools etc. I made a start on the card making materials first and have now finished the task. I completely emptied this room, washed shelves and floor and now from

I might even have room for more purchases.

All my card/paper is sorted into boxes colourwise and labelled. The Chinese man from Euro Market has got to know me the amount of plastic boxes I have purchased this last week and more may be required when I start on the other room.
I have disposed of most of my knitting patterns some of the baby patterns had the price of 6d on them so were very old, but then baby cardigans don't change in fashion much. Probably like all crafters you think ah I may be able to use this so don't throw it away.
So one room completed and another one to go.

Since beginning to type this blog (which was over a week ago) I have had a go at driving and am now managing outside without crutches, all progress.

Watch this space to see this room all nice and tidy I don't think it will be done this next week though perhaps the week after.
